And all the joys I have;

He makes me triumph over death,

And saves me from the grave."

Samuel Stennett [A. D. 1787]

Easter Bunny Lady

The Easter bunny is hard at work. Taking in orders for the day by computer mind you, its now gone electronic, who knows maybe a website next? The eggs, which have been brought from the chicken coop are carefully looked at the Easter bunny holds up a green egg and smiles to herself at the perfection of it.

The eggs are then bumbling in the egg washer that has been purchased along with an air machine to work along side it. What happened to washing by hand you might say, sheshhh this is not the dark ages! They are later laid to dry and then put into cartons where they sit in the fridge for a few days, never a week though, those go to donation then if they are that old.

They are then loaded with care into a mini van. What? No hopping please!. the Easter bunny is female and has little bunnies to take care of the mini van is much more faster. The eggs are delivered and the Easter bunny then takes her little bunnies for lunch and maybe a movie if they have been good this week and stayed out of the farmers garden.

Reality check

Phone rings..

Me: Hello this is the Easter bunny lady

Kid on other line: Mom! Its the egg lady.

Me: Grumbles to myselfnooooo Easter bunny lady!

At least for the week that I deliver eggs I would like to consider myself the Easter bunny. Alas to my clients kids I will always be just the Egg Lady. This week alone I am delivery 28 dozen eggs into City, usually its not that much but its close to Easter so my clients order more for the holidays.

If only my chickens would lay more during the Xmas/Thanksgiving holidays I would make a killing at that time too. The chickens though usually go on strike or is it vacation time for them? They lay only enough to feed my only family for the week. Maybe its a good time then to tell them about the chicken pot pie machine I am ordering from Acme.

Farm/Family update: Today a chicken that was brooding had 3 babys. I tried to lay her down on the ground but she is still weak from sitting all those weeks and the rooster right away started bothering her. Wish I had a separate place to put her. The rest were lost when it rain it must have gotten wet. I had to throw the old stinky eggs away.

I put her in a new box and gave her a little water and food. I really need to go get some more hay soon to line the boxes soon. Tommy potty training is going well, only one mishap today. Randy decorated her Easter basket for the Home school Easter party that was her art for today hehehe. Motherinlaw called from Wash wants the girl up there for one week of summer. We are considering it.

Tom processed one of the lambs that were born in Dec. It ended up being really fat from all this grass out here. We commented to each other that they were good looking lambs better then when we processed them at the ranch, if only they were born here they could have had a few more months of grass to make them bigger. He has one more to process tomorrow.

We have one of the lambs sold already. The rest will go to us for now. I know more people want more but we need to tag them to see what we have. We only managed to get two of the males in. The rest were not to be fooled even with the corn we gave them. We need holding pens badly. We will have lamb for Easter!

Ps notice how I say process and not butchering or slaughter just a nicer word for it and it wont freak people out when talking to them about the farm.
